Basic Portrait Lighting

Knowing how to control light is very important in creating successful portraits. This workshop addresses how to illuminate subjects effectively using strobe lights. This workshop will also discuss posing models. With the use of actual demonstrations, assignments, critiques, and a shoot with a model, students will learn various lighting techniques in taking portraits.
-Types of portraits
-Choosing equipment (cameras, lenses and other equipment)
-Metering & focusing
-Making correct exposures with histograms & bracketing
-Using light meters
-Computing light ratios
-One-light setups and techniques (feathering, Rembrandt lighting, low-key setups, and using different strobe attachments.)
-Controlling and manipulating light
-Using reflectors, softboxes and other strobe attachments
-One-light setups and techniques (feathering, Rembrandt lighting, low-key setups, and using different strobe attachments.)-Two and three-light setups and techniques (Low-key setups, high-key setups)
-Commercial white background setup
-Shoot with model
- Basic photography and knowledge of camera’s Manual mode
Fee: P3,500 inclusive of some gear use, handouts, snacks and certificate.

About the Instructor
Heidi Aquende established a career as an editorial and commercial photographer in 2006. Her works have been published in Entrepreneur, Cosmopolitan, FHM, Chalk, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Philippine Star, Women’s Health, Total Girl, Men’s Health, among others. And she has done commercial work for Ponds, Intercontinental Hotel Group, Haagen-Dazs, Old El Paso, Padi's Point, Philippine Basketball Association, Habitat for Humanity International, D&D Custom Guitars, No Curfew, among others.
She has exhibited both of her photographs and paintings.
Heidi took up courses at the International Center for Photography in New York. She is the resident photographer and owner of Camera Cart Studios.
She is also running a portrait business
